I was wondering how many people out there are like me and prefer using ncurses / console applications to their GUI counter-parts. I personally only use a handful of GUI applications (e.g. Firefox and the Gimp) and I could not be happier.
However, my personal preference seems to confuse many of my fellow GNU/Linux associates as they tend to immediately think that either the hardware that I run is somehow horribly outdated or I am just odd for not using more GUI applications with an flashy eye-candy induced desktop.
Of course, it could not be farther from the truth; I simply subscribe to the Unix Philosophy.
If you are not familiar with the philosophy, a simple way to explain it is that a program should do one thing, do it well and be designed for simplicity.
Do any of you have any thoughts on this or am I just starting to show my age?
